Wednesday

My new years wish this year is that Greyhound becomes a hostile, opportunistic company. Seeing weakness in the Acadian Lines organization, and fed up of their monopoly on maritime bus transport, they move in a strategically start busing in from Bangor and Quebec. Acadian can keep PEI, nothing more.

I have twice as many horror stories about Acadian Lines than trips I have taken on their buses. That's right, multiple incidents per trip. I'm pretty sure an abortion was performed in the bathroom last time I went to the valley.

Sunday

This is not my fight.

Monday

Submissions for Flash Forward are due in a couple weeks, so of course I'm just getting my act together now. Last year I was a little intimidated by the project, seeing as a prof of mine had just been accepted the previous year. However, after the success of the Omegas at SNAP!, and with some motivation and coaching from Maryann Camilleri, I'm throwing my name in the hat this year. I feel that getting into the book would help consummate the project, giving me enough momentum to try something else. On the other hand, not getting into the book would also allow me to walk away from the project, feeling that the work had run its course. Wish me luck?

There are still two more images to polish up, an orangutan and an amur leopard, but here is how the project stands:

Friday

Andrea asked me if I could see the ocean from where I live. I get to see it everyday. It can be hard not too. Most days it is in the form of the Halifax Harbour, which leaves something to be desired from an oceanscape, although I did get to hang out with a seal down there once. The one above is at the Bay of Fundy.

Photos of the ocean will be a theme in the book, I think. South Shore. North Shore. Off the cliffs of Cape Breton. Without getting too touristy; that's not really the point of the book. I'd really just like to being able to show people this place as I see it.

Out-takes from childhood.

Tuesday

I've struggled for while now to figure out how to make work about my life on a bike. One issue is not really being able to haul around a camera while I'm working/training/riding. I pack it in every now and again, and then will hit the ground a couple days later and thank bike that I didn't have it on me. But I think I'm making progress on the subject, slow as it may be.

Monday

Dear Canada Post,

Get your shit together and return my polaroid back to me. Christmas happens around this time every year, and you're acting like it is a completely unprecedented event. Had you bothered to ring my doorbell, my polaroid back wouldn't be on a journey to the center of the earth in the back of one of your trucks. What a dick meeting.

Sunday

When inspiration is at minimum, this is what does it for me every time. And there is loads of this stuff at Square America.
Never fails.

Catsup, out.

Thursday

I need to spend more time in Boston.
